In 1874 Somerville wrote her own rhyming verse Pantomimic play, ‘Choral’, based on the fairy tale, ‘Sleeping Beauty’. ‘Choral’ was first performed in 1887 by the Somerville and Coghill families in Castletownshend’s Village Hall and Somerville later revised the play in September 1916 to be performed at her home, Drishane House. Somerville and Ross also appear to have taken a keen interest in the plays staged by the Abbey Theatre in Dublin and Ross, in particular, attended several Abbey and other Revivalist productions between 1901 and 1905 (and then again in 1909 with Somerville) at the behest of Lady Gregory.FormatThe file format, physical medium, or dimensions of the resourceJPEG ; textIdentifierAn unambiguous reference to the resource within a given contextMS 17http://omeka.qub.ac.uk/files/original/items/show/11http://omeka.qub.ac.uk/files/original/38514b28b128943e7caee16a39feb2b0.jpghttp://omeka.qub.ac.uk/files/original/fd2c42470c3a0565e07304a751ea5a88.jpgLanguageA language of the resourceengPublisherAn entity responsible for making the resource availableSpecial Collections & Archives, Queen's University BelfastRelationA related resourceSomerville & Ross Collection MS 17RightsInformation about rights held in and over the resourceReproduction of these materials in any format for any purpose other than personal research and study may constitute a violation of CDPA 1988 and infringement of rights associated with the materials.
